Lists

Things I rarely do anymore because they take two free hands:
  • Write thank you notes
  • Cook
  • Take out the trash
  • Do the wash
  • Read The Economist
  • Read a book
  • Text
  • Brush my teeth
  • Wash my face
  • Get dressed
  • Fix my hair
  • Put on cosmetics

Things I can do with one hand:
  • Write this blog
  • Check Facebook
  • Talk on the phone
  • Read In Touch Weekly
  • Surf the net
  • Read with the kindle
  • Answer the door for the UPS man

Things I have grown to appreciate more since having a baby:
  • Showers
  • Silence
  • Hot food
  • Prime-time television

Things I miss from before the baby was born:
  • Pedicures
  • Baths
  • Adult conversation
  • Nights out
  • AA meetings

Things I thought I would miss but surprisingly, I don't:
  • Sleep
  • My modesty

Things I should give up, but can't seem to:
  • Soft cheese
  • Movie theaters
  • Staying up until 2:00 AM

Things I didn't think I would like, but it turns out that I do:
  • The color Pink
  • Giving my baby a bath
  • Finding out my baby has gained weight
  • Poopy diapers

Things that made me happy (before baby):
  • A new silk dress from Anthropologie
  • A table filled with friends and flowing conversation
  • A hot cup of coffee and the bookstore
  • Sleeping in till noon on a Sunday morning
  • Dinner in an amazing restaurant
  • A fresh pedicure
  • US magazine
  • A lengthy massage
  • Window shopping
  • The squeeze of my husband's hand
  • The way heads turn when I walk past a table of men
  • Biting the skin on the back of my hand
  • Photos of me and my girlfriends on my MySpace page
  • Sitting in the park with my baby


Things that make me happy (since baby):
  • Nursing tanks from Old Navy
  • A refrigerator full of food
  • Hot tea and the bookstore
  • Sleeping on a Sunday morning
  • Being cooked for
  • A freshly cleaned baby
  • Baby and parenting blogs
  • Giving my baby a rub down after her bath
  • Shopping online
  • My baby’s fingers tightly gripping mine
  • The way Story stops crying when mommy holds her
  • Rubbing my lips over the peach fuzz on my little baldy's head
  • Photos of my baby on Facebook
  • Sitting in the park with my babies
